Norfolk Chiropractor Can Help Lower Your Risk for Diabetes
November is Type 2 Diabetes awareness month. This devastating disease kills more Americans every year than breast cancer and AIDS combined – and it is completely preventable. Unfortunately, many Americans still do not consider diabetes a serious disease until it is too late.
With more than 79 million Americans at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes, it is more important than ever that we make basic lifestyle changes to our reduce our risk for the disease. Here, at Norfolk Chiropractic, our chiropractor Dr. Scott Niblo is committed to helping everyone live healthy lives.
Norfolk Wellness Tips for Healthy Living
Get moving. Exercise is essential to preventing the risk of diabetes. You don’t have to run a marathon to stay active. Find an activity you love, whether it’s gardening or walking through the neighborhood, and commit to breaking a sweat at least three times per week. If you suffer from
arthritis, neck pain or back pain, being active can be a challenge. Our chiropractor can help manage this pain by restoring alignment to your body through chiropractic adjustment. When your body is properly aligned, you will reduce your risk for illness and injury – and be able to enjoy the activities you love, pain-free.
Eat right. Making healthy food choices can be challenging, especially if you are short on time and money. But resist the urge to hit up the drive-thru for dinner. Build a healthier dinner plate filled with fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein. Short on time during the week? Try making healthy meals on the weekend, and then freezing individual portion sizes to eat during the week. Not sure which foods are right for your body? With our nutritional counseling, we can design a dietary plan that ensures you receive the right balance of nutrients and supplements for your specific wellness needs.
Taking the first steps. Making a lifestyle change can be daunting, and getting started is the hardest part. Our lifestyle counseling can help you get motivated and stay focused. Incorporating small changes into your daily life can greatly reduce your risk for diabetes.
